PCEI Summer Yoga Series
Saturdays, 9:00-10:00am
June 6 – September 19
Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute
This class is so exciting that it has its own page.

Desk to Trail
Mondays, 5:30-6:30pm
September – May
An all-levels class designed to help you live your best life here on the Palouse. We will blend flowing sequences with mindful work on strength, flexibility, and tension release for areas most affected by both desk jobs and repetitive movement sports (think hiking, running, cycling, swimming). Expect plenty of non-linear movement, dynamic and static stretching, core strengthening, and hip, chest, and shoulder opening. We will also practice breathing techniques for grounding and relaxation. Reclaim and maintain your mobility to improve your performance on the trail and your posture at your desk.
This class is donation-based and donations go to the Unitarian Church. If you are able to make a donation, cash or Venmo would be great.
Please message me below or join my email list for more information.

Level 2: Core and Balance
Sundays, 5:00-6:30pm
October – April
This playful 90-minute yoga class includes a mix of flow sequence, breathwork, hand balancing and inversions, mobility, and core strengthening. Time will be spent workshopping challenging poses and transitions. An intermediate level of yoga experience is recommended but adventurous or curious beginners are welcome to join!
Please message me below or join my email list for this class for pricing info and class announcements.
Services
Group and private classes
Private (1-2 people) sessions:
I love to work with people individually to help them begin or grow their practice. Great for anyone including folks who want to be prepared for their first studio class, start or add variety to their home practice, or take their practice to the next level.
Small group classes or workshops:
For groups of 3-8. These can be taught as a led class or workshop. I can tailor the content to your needs as closely as you would like, or you can give me some guidelines on difficulty and style and let me unleash my creativity. If you have an idea, let’s talk!
Larger group classes:
For more than 8 people, I can offer a led class. Class style options are listed below. If you are unsure what you’d like, contact me and I can help you figure it out!
Studio classes:
Please see my current in-person studio offerings above. Click the “calendar” button at the top of the page for up-to-date class information.
Pricing
All pricing is on a case-by-case basis, depending on the time I need to spend preparing and the location of the event. You’ll find my pricing very fair. I am also open to trades, and happy to donate my time for charitable events.
Equipment
I have a supply of mats, blocks, and straps available for use for up to 5 people. After that you will need to supply your own.
Location
I can fit 1-2 people in my home studio for private sessions, or I can travel to a different location in Moscow or Pullman. Small or large groups can be held at a location of your choice. I can help find a location if you would like.
Workshop examples and class styles
Workshops examples: hip mobility, energy balancing, core and stability, arm balancing, strengthening, inversions, flexibility.
Class styles: Kundalini, Ashtanga, vinyasa, yin, or any combination. Classes can be as active or relaxing as you’d like. I usually incorporate simple meditation and breathwork but these can be optional. Please note I am not familiar with teaching chair yoga or any kind of adaptive yoga.
FAQs
I can’t do yoga because I’m not flexible, right?
The answer to this question runs so much deeper than you think. ANYONE can do yoga, anywhere, anytime. If you think yoga is just about being flexible, or just about exercise, I am so excited for the opportunity to share with you everything else that yoga is, and all of the benefits that it has for us.
I’ve been going to yoga classes for months and I still can’t touch my toes. Is there something wrong with me?
No, absolutely not. Please see the answer to the question above. Having a goal like touching your toes is great! However, asana practice (doing the poses) is so much more beneficial if we are willing to meet ourselves where we are along the path to the goal. This might be different every day. Some people may never touch their toes, and the ones truly practicing yoga are the ones who do not care. See Patanjali’s yoga sutra 1.12.
What is the goal of yoga if it isn’t touching your toes?
The “goal” of yoga is simple: to still your mind. Different paths of yoga aim to accomplish this in different ways. Yoga existed for thousands of years before anyone even thought to include physical posture (asana) practice. The modern studio classes we are most familiar with can definitely help us on our yogic paths, but there is so much more.
Okay, but I want to safely progress in my asana practice and am having trouble doing this on my own/in studio classes. What else can I do?
A few recommendations:
Try experimenting with different types of classes and different teachers, whether in-person or online. Teachers vary widely in experience, style, and technique. You may be stuck on something for a long time until you hear a new explanation that resonates with you and works for your body.
Private sessions could also be helpful for you. I offer them (see above), and there are other wonderful teachers around the Palouse who do as well. Please get in touch with me if you’d like more information, including recommendations for other teachers!
What should I expect at my first class?
Try to arrive 5-10 minutes early. You’ll want to have time to set up your mat, take off your shoes, and do anything else you need to prepare for class. Generally classes start quietly and it can be disruptive if people are arriving after the start time.
Some studios have places to keep your belongings in the lobby. It is generally safe to leave your valuables (wallet, cell phone) out there, but if you don’t feel comfortable doing that you can bring them into the yoga room. Just please, please remember to silence your cell phone, keep it covered, and don’t use it until you are back in the lobby. Exception: if you are on-call, let the instructor know that you need to see and maybe check your phone, but please still keep it on silent so that it doesn’t bother others.
Most studios practice quiet in the yoga room before class starts and maybe after class as well. Unless you observe otherwise, keep conversations to the lobby.
During class, the teacher will guide you. Sometimes they will demonstrate, but sometimes they will just be talking. If you are confused, it’s okay to glance at others to see what they are doing.
At the end of class, there will almost always be time for “final relaxation” or savasana (pronounced shavasana). This is a meditative time and all you need to do physically is lie quietly on your back and stay awake. Depending on the class, this can be a few minutes long or up to 10 minutes or more. Some teachers will guide you through it, some will leave you in silence. They will let you know when to get back up. There is a lot more to learn about savasana and it will become more important to your practice as time goes on.
What is your teaching style and background?
I am more of a straightforward and technical teacher, with a knack for creative sequencing. I like to center classes around themes and rarely repeat the same class twice. I do my best to offer options and modifications for all students in the room.
I have practiced all over the country with truly wonderful teachers and have taken inspiration from all kinds of yogis! My approach to yoga is also influenced by my education in medical science and career as a research scientist.
Will you donate your time for a charity event?
Yes!
What is Maitrī Yoga?
Maitrī is a Sanskrit word for loving kindness. Loving kindness is a central tenet of Buddhism (in Pali, the word is mettā). To me, it is just as important to treat yourself with loving kindness as it is to treat others this way.
What are your certifications?
I hold a 200 hour RYT certification as well as a 100 hour Kundalini Shakti teacher certification.
